BUSINESS WRITING WORKSHOP

Course Aim To help delegates to write better business documents, whether emails, letters, reports or proposals, so that they achieve the results they want. (One estimate says that British businesses waste about £6 billion a year through bad writing.)
Objectives Specifically delegates will: · learn how to write better letters, emails and reports · make their writing more effective, producing the results they want · make planning, writing and editing business documents easier and faster · make it easier for their readers to read, understand and act appropriately · recognise and use the principles of plain English · clarify some of the contentious points in English grammar and punctuation · increase their confidence.
Contents INTRODUCTION · What makes business writing ineffective? · Samples of poor business writing to critique. · The process of business writing: Plan, Write, Edit.
PREPARATION · Your purpose or objective – What exactly are you trying to achieve? What if anything must you avoid? · Your readers – who are they, what do they expect or need?
LETTERS· Current conventions for the layout of business letters. · Greeting and signing off, using letter headings or titles. · Avoiding cliché openings and closings. · Structuring and sequencing your content. Making it flow.
METHOD OF TRAINING Our courses are “ACTIVE” and “interactive” and geared to delegates personal experience, and therefore the maximum number of delegates is specifically determined to ensure that each delegate gains the maximum benefit through a more individualised and involved approach |
